Hello there, Internets.
I am establishing this blog with the hope to provide a discovery space for period resources for homeowners and restorers of older homes.
My interest in old home research was born of necessity: I was working on my own homes. My first was a late 19th century home in a section of town built by a factory owner for workers; my second was a 1920's brick bungalow that had all of its charm removed in a unkind 1960's remodel. I now find myself living in a rental house built in 2003. It's already-cracking drywall and plastic doors are so uninspiring I find myself continuing to research period fixtures just for fun. So, I have this thought: why not share the research? I know there are many others out there replicating my searches (or am I replicating theirs?).
Hopefully this space will (over time) fill with useful resources for all those interested in the varied history of American homes.
